United Way Australia

United Way Australia is the peak body for the United Way network in Australia.

United Way Australia is a member of the United Way Global network with members in over 45 countries around the world.

We have been operating in Australia for over fifty years and currently invest over $5 million per annum in grass-roots community projects which create real impact.

United Way member funds are independent community chest organisations which raise money locally and support carefully selected charities in their local communities.

The role of United Way Australia is to support and encourage existing members and establish new members in order to create a capacity for people to care for one another through the collective contributions of all United Way members.

United Way Australia deals at a national level and coordinates a national response to Corporate Partners operating in multiple states and territories.

This peak body is primarily funded by the network.

How are we different? 

With no political or religious affiliation, we focus our support to a number of grass-roots charities in the local communities in which you live and work.  

We take time each year to evaluate specific projects submitted by community organisations, many of whom lack the capacity to fundraise themselves.  

We select a group of charities or projects to support and engage corporations and individuals to donate money, time and resources to support these efforts.  

This not only ensures your dollar is channelled towards a specific project, but also allows these charities to focus on and improve what they do best – helping those in need.
